Obviously turning anticipative fx off resolves this issue but then cpu usage is unacceptable on my puny system. A 50 ms setting greatly improves this without much performance penalty but doesn't get rid of the problem entirely. Reaper's default 200ms anticipative fx setting causes a whopping 200 ms delay when mixing and so is unusable for time sensitive automation. The 'bug' i mentioned above isn't a bug as such sorry, but it took many helpers on the reaper forum to get to the bottom of it. Some of the latency issues I've had previously have been intermittent and so may have been associated with 3rd party plugin issues. Can i ask what osx version you run please ? You've helped me over on the reaper forums a few times before. I dont really use the automation so cant help you there. Thanks for help man. Also what are the latency bugs you are talking about? Since I am far from alone in this regard, it sounds like you have a setup issue in Reaper.

I am using an old RME HDSP9652 pci on one machine & a BAbyface on the other with none of the issues you seem to be experiencing.
